Information

Placing Holds

You may place holds on items you want in three ways.

  • You may call or visit the library and ask the staff to place a hold for you.

  • You may place the hold and manage your account yourself on the SHARE.  You can access it by clicking here.

  • You may e-mail the library at gilmandanforthlib@live.com and request that the staff place the hold.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items

Most items may be renewed twice.  More renewals may require the assistance of the librarian on duty. If your attempt to renew on-line fails, call or e-mail the library for help. Library staff may not override another library’s renewal limit and may not renew a book if there is a request on it.

Lost or Damaged Books

Books that are lost or damaged must be paid for by the patron who checked them out.  The librarian may renew a lost item once or twice to see if the item can be found.  If the item is damaged or cannot be found, the patron will need to pay the retail cost of the item, but there is no lost processing fee.  The parents of persons under 18 are ultimately responsible for the debts of their children to the library.
